Premier League and Coca-Cola in talks over ‘multimillion-pound’ sponsorship deal

Discussions reportedly at an advanced stage and agreement could be ratified this week.

English soccer’s Premier League is reportedly in talks with the Coca-Cola Company over the soft drinks giant returning as an official partner.

According to Sky News, discussions over a multimillion-pound deal are at an advanced stage and could be ratified at a Premier League shareholder meeting on 27th March.

If concluded, the agreement would reportedly see Coca-Cola become the league’s official soft drinks partner. That partnership category has been vacant since the company’s previous pact with the top flight, which was signed in January 2019 and saw multiple Coca-Cola drinks brands promoted, expired in 2022.

It is currently unclear which of Coca-Cola’s brands, which include sports drinks Powerade and BodyArmor, would be promoted through the deal.

SportsPro has contacted Coca-Cola for comment.

Resigning with the Premier League would continue Coca-Cola’s long association with English soccer. The company was title sponsor of both the English Football League (EFL) from 2004 to 2010 and the League Cup during the 1990s.

Coca-Cola’s existing soccer sponsorship portfolio includes tie-ups with Fifa, Uefa, Major League Soccer (MLS) and FC Barcelona.

The Premier League added Guinness, Football Manager and Rezzil to its partnership roster from the 2024/25 campaign. It also confirmed this month that Puma will take over from Nike as the league’s official ball supplier from next season.
